We offer physical therapy rehab, medical consultations, sports physicals, massage, Pilates classes, EMG nerve testing, non-surgical spinal decompression, and traditional chiropractic care method known as spinal manipulations. Dr. Scuderi and our team at Gardens Health & Wellness have worked with patients, helping them to improve mobility, reduce pain, and recover from injury for over 10 years now.
Traditional Chiropractic Care: Spinal Manipulation
While we offer a great many different healing options for our clients, spinal manipulation is still the most popular and most often utilized type of chiropractic care here at Gardens
Health & Wellness. Spinal manipulation is also called "hands on care" or "spinal adjustment." This type of therapy has its roots in traditional medicine and has been used for thousands of years: Even the ancient Egyptian culture performed manipulation techniques for health reasons.
Once Dr. Scuderi isolates the pain-causing area of the back, he will gently manipulate the spinal column in that area, followed by a thrust that helps to properly adjust the spine. Following this, Dr. Scuderi will palpate the area of the spine that he has just adjusted, checking to see if the problem is resolved. In some cases, a spinal adjustment will require more than one visit, while in other cases it is simply a matter of a small misalignment that can be corrected in a matter of a few minutes.
Regardless of what sort of pain or disease you are dealing with, spinal manipulation may be helpful since the spine is so intricately connected to your entire body.

Five Safe Driving Tips

Five Tips for Safe Driving in Palm Beach Gardens
If you have ever been involved in a motor vehicle accident, you are probably familiar with the physical pain that can occur as a result of the collision. Drivers in Palm Beach Gardens can help protect themselves and their families from getting into a motor vehicle accident by following these five simple driving tips:
1. Avoid using your cell phone while driving. According to the National Highway Safety Administration (NHSA), drivers who text or talk on the phone while driving are 23 times more likely to be
involved in a motor vehicle collision then those who do not.
2. Keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the car in front of you. Many drivers in the Palm Beach Gardens area may have a habit of "tailgating" or driving too closely behind the car in front of them. This habit leaves the driver in a compromised position if traffic suddenly comes to a halt.
3. Use additional caution when faced with adverse weather conditions. Rain, fog and bright sunlight can alter your ability to control your vehicle by impairing your vision or creating a hazardous condition on the roadway. Reducing your speed, turning on your headlights and remaining alert will reduce your chances of becoming involved in a motor vehicle collision.
4. Adhere to the posted speed limit. Driving too fast for the terrain can increase your odds of getting into an accident by reducing your ability to respond to obstacles in the road or changing traffic patterns.
5. Avoid driving while impaired. Most of us know that we should avoid "drinking and driving" but some drivers overlook the fact that certain medications can also cause us to become impaired. Always read the warning labels on any medications that you are taking.

Health Benefits of Massage

Massage therapy can provide numerous benefits to patients, especially when used alongside chiropractic treatments. At Gardens Health and Wellness, serving the West Palm Beach, Loxahatchee, and Palm Beach Gardens areas, our massage therapists strive to help patients recover from accidents and discover relief from stress. If you are looking for a drug-free way to feel less pain, we recommend massage therapy.
Many Benefits of Massage
Massage therapy helps a variety of people including patients who have been in an auto accident or who have suffered from another type of injury. It is also beneficial for people who experience
pain and stiffness due to sitting in an office chair all day or from poor posture. Our therapists provide pain relief by improving the flow of blood around your muscles and improving your overall range of motion and flexibility. The therapy stretches the muscles, which eases stiffness and increases mobility.
Regular massages can also help speed the time it takes your body to heal and improve your immune system's functioning. After an injury, your muscles may have trouble removing waste products, which can slow healing. Regular massages at our West Palm Beach clinic help the muscles flush out toxins and wastes. The next time you are in for chiropractic care, such as a spinal adjustment or physical therapy, talk with our staff to find out how massages can benefit you.
Massage not only benefits patients who have suffered an injury. The therapy is also beneficial for patients who are feeling stressed or overwhelmed. It's an effective treatment option if you suffer from depression or anxiety. When you come in for a massage, you can completely relax while our therapists use either relaxation, Shiatsu, deep tissue or Swedish massage techniques on your muscles. During therapy at our clinic, you'll feel a connection to our trained therapists and will feel cared for and nurtured.

All about Non-surgical Spinal Decompression
Posted on 2011-12-21 13:32:01
Non-surgical spinal decompression is a treatment option for patients who suffer from herniated or bulging discs and other spinal disc problems, such as sciatica or radiculopathy. Patients may want to explore spinal decompression as a treatment option following an accident or injury. Chiropractor Dr. Philip Scuderi performs the treatment on patients at Gardens Health and Wellness center in Palm Beach Gardens. Our center also treats patients in the surrounding West Palm Beach and Loxahatchee areas.
Pain Relief with Spinal Decompression
Spinal decompression stretches the spine using non-motorized traction. During the procedure, a
distraction force is put on the problem area to slowly create areas of space between the vertebrae. There are also periods of relaxation during spinal decompression, which are necessary to create a vacuum, or areas of negative pressure, in the spine. The vacuum helps pull a slipped disc back into its place. The slow stretching of the spine improves the flow of oxygen, water and nutrients to the injured area, improving healing.
The procedure is gentle and less invasive than surgery. It is sometimes more effective than surgery for relieving back pain and other spinal problems. In some cases, non-surgical spinal decompression helps patients who have undergone failed back surgery finally find pain relief.
Who Can Benefit from Spinal Decompression?
The procedure can be performed to treat a range of ailments. At Gardens Health and Wellness in Palm Beach Gardens, our chiropractor employs decompression on patients who experience pain from sciatica, as well as pain from worn spinal discs and degenerative disc disease, which leads to bulging discs. Pain from sciatica can occur when a patient has a herniated disc or it can occur for a number of other reasons, such as muscle strain or injury. Spinal decompression is also useful for treating radiculopathy, or pain that occurs when a patient's nerve roots are injured or diseased.
Most patients need several sessions of spinal decompression therapy to completely treat their problems. A reduction in pain may be noticeable after the first treatment. Pain may be gone completely by the end of the therapy program.

Pilates for Strength and Wellness at Palm Beach Gardens Health and Wellness Center

At Gardens Health & Wellness, licensed physical therapist Angela Calalang uses Pilates to help patients rehabilitate from injuries and for core strengthening. Pilates is an exercise method developed by Joseph Pilates to help strengthen the core muscles, align the spine and improve flexibility. Core strengthening exercises often helps patients undergoing physical therapy and chiropractic care. Physical Awareness and Pilates Patients undergoing physical therapy can benefit from practicing Pilates as the exercises boost the amount of attention you pay to your body's movements.
It not only builds strength in the body but helps you become aware of the various muscle movements and how sitting or standing a certain way may strain or otherwise negatively impact your body. Exercises focus on building the core muscles, the back and abdominal muscles. A strong core can improve your endurance so you can exercise longer and have more stamina overall.
Our physical therapist leads patients through the exercises in our office using Pilates equipment. Some of the exercises can also be performed at home. Strengthening the core can help you learn where your areas of weakness are and will help you learn to strengthen them. The stronger the core muscles are, the less likely you are to injure areas that seem unrelated, such as your leg muscles. Pilates and Pain Reduction Another benefit of Pilates is that it can help reduce back or neck pain.
The exercises can go hand-in-hand with chiropractic care as they help to make the muscles in the back more flexible and strong. If you suffer from back pain, Pilates exercises can help you connect the pain you experience to the way you sit or with a past injury. Has working to strengthen your core muscles helped you recover from an injury?
